Kara Holm is (sadly) not a billionaire. She is a recovering startup founder and rehabilitated integrated casino resort marketing consultant. Kara is an MFA candidate in creative non-fiction at the University of King’s College (Halifax, Nova Scotia) and leads Advancement at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design.
She is the creator of www.upstarts.international, a platform dedicated to founders, and www.karaholm.com, a now very-occasional business blog focused on loyalty and engagement. Kara’s writing about casino gaming, marketing, destination gamification, and social license has been published in industry magazines and she has presented at conferences in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Her book about startups has the working title: Upstarts: Founders, Failure, and the Startup Paradox.
Kara lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with her family where she enjoys wine, food, travel, art, music, knitting, and books.
